The Muraka, the world’s first ever underwater residence can be found at Conrad Maldives Rangali. The Muraka is located underwater in the turquoise lagoon of Rangali Island, far enough away from the beach villas and over-water bungalows of the resort to ensure maximum privacy.

The revolutionary concept of an underwater residence was envisioned by renowned Maldivian architect Ahmed Saleem, who is also a director of Crown Company operator of Conrad Maldives Rangali. He was also the pioneer of Ithaa Underwater Restaurant, the first of its kind in the world, also located in the lagoon of Rangali.

“Driven by our inspiration to deliver innovative and transformative experiences to our global travelers, the world’s first undersea residence encourages guests to explore the Maldives from an entirely new perspective below the surface of the sea,” said Mr Saleem.

The Muraka Residence gives guests an exquisite experience of sleeping and living underwater with the marine life of the lagoon in plain sight. The suite comes with dedicated staff that includes a butler and a chef to facilitate round-the-clock service, as well as therapists, personal trainers, and child-minders.

The property is a two-level structure with space five meters above and below sea level. The underwater suite features a king-sized bedroom, en-suite bathroom, spacious living area, and a spiral staircase that leads up to the upper-level dining and living area. The upper-level has a twin-sized bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a fully-equipped gym, butler and private security quarters, and an integrated living and dining room, stocked bar and gourmet kitchen.

The Muraka has an acrylic dome with 180-degree panoramic views of the Indian Ocean – similar to the design of the Ithaa Underwater Restaurant.
